Let’s Talk: It’s an Update

Whaddup, y’all.

While I’ve shared a free workout, it’s been about two months since I’ve given any proper updates. And let me just say, there’s a lot going on!

I won’t waste your time with anything boring. So let’s catch up, shall we?

Since Mount Crushmore ended I’ve had a lot on my plate. Let’s start with …

My Current Program

I got great results from Mount Crushmore and I intended to begin a followup called Terror-torial after taking a couple of weeks off but what ended up happening is I’ve just been trying to maintain while I focus on a few other priorities.

My diet has been steady as I eat the classic meathead chicken – rice – broccoli for lunch most days, sticking with clean meals for dinner and indulging in the weekly Friday night pizza night.

Training has admittedly not been what I’d like it to be. I’ve been lifting here and there but primarily I’ve stuck with my regularly scheduled boxing classes for conditioning, though I often include strength training as part of the classes so as to not lose all my gainz 🙂

TL;DR — I’m not on one.

I Got Promoted

At the beginning of July I was named Director of Operations for TITLE Boxing Club Knoxville! Basically this just means I’m getting paid to do what I was already doing, though I now have a little more say in our operations, I’m running our social media and am now able to take more of an authoritative coaching role in the lives of our trainers and staff. I don’t say this kind of thing often but it’s a blessing to say the least.

I’m Building Online Programs

First of all, I’m now realizing how much work is involved here but I’m hoping to dig into the world of online personal training with some online workouts and meal plans. I hope to share my progress with that as we get a little closer to time — realistically, I’d like to launch in time for New Years resolutioners who need a fresh approach.

I’m Retiring the Circus

Related to the previous bit of news, I recently realized that I can’t keep up both the side show and viking themes so I’ve decided to settle on one. My logo is a neat little viking man and while the intention of the freak show theme was to play off the fact that taking care of yourself IS freakish in today’s society, I don’t think that connection was being made by a lot of folks. So we’re all vikings here now, all on different paths.

I’m Taking the Lead in a Fundraiser for My Favorite Non-Profit

I’ll be revealing more details about this in the next week or so — please follow me on Instagram as well as TITLE Boxing Club Knoxville for details — but I’m taking the lead on this year’s Warrior Week initiative where clubs spend a week raising money for local charities. This year we’re partnering with the Community Coalition Against Human Trafficking and I’m incredibly excited to see what we can do for them!

I Bought a Motorcycle

I detailed this in my other blog when it happened but I finally got a motorcycle! You may be asking yourself what this has to do with fitness and I’ll have to be honest and say nothing at all. As a coach, however, it’s important for me to stress how vital it is to set goals, make a plan for them and work toward them. And that’s exactly what I did with this motorcycle! It required a desire, a decision, the proper training and the discipline to budget for one. Much like making a lifestyle change, eating healthier or starting a fitness regimen — set your focus, make your plan and execute!

Or as the vikings will say in my upcoming programs:

  • Assessing

  • Plotting

  • Pillaging

  • Ruling

Ever onward, fellow Heathens.
