Getting Stronger – Getting Prettier
I adopted this as my mantra a few short weeks before becoming a trainer at TITLE Boxing Club. I thought it accurately described the motivation behind my hard work.
Getting Stronger because that’s the ultimate goal – not to be interpreted as stronger than you, but stronger than I was yesterday. At times, even, stronger than I was this morning. I should always be looking for ways to get better and more efficient – stronger. This is my primary approach to training.
Getting Prettier because, let’s be honest, most of us go to the gym to look good as hell. There’s always an aesthetic motivation behind our intentions at the gym and I don’t care who you are or how often you deny it. It’s shallow, yes, but it’s motivational and it’s something to be proud of – and I think a little bit of shallowness is not only acceptable, it’s necessary. It’s confidence, and you deserve it.
I became a personal trainer primarily to help others find their own motivation to get stronger and more confident. The gym is an intimidating place. If you’re inexperienced or fall into any category that isn’t muscle-headed bro, walking onto the floor with barbells, dumbbells, plates and a bunch of sweaty, grunting dudes without a plan of your own is scary.
And that isn’t right.
Fitness isn’t something to be afraid of and I’m here to help you conquer that fear.
My focus is primarily on these folks:
- Those who have little or no experience in the gym and have no idea where to start.
- People who may know a thing or two about being fit but are more comfortable with someone building a program for them.
- People that want to do it all on their own but want to know how to properly do a barbell squat or work their way up to a pull-up.
If this sounds like you, I’m your guy.
If you’re a heavy-lifting muscle head, I’m still here for you. You’re just not my target demographic. My specialties lie in beginner’s strength training, run coaching, and boxing basics. I can also make some badass Paleo cookies.
If you’re interested in personal training, say hey sometime and we’ll set something up. Otherwise, please just enjoy the few tidbits I share here. I’m currently a one-man show so I’m a bit limited but I intend to share what I learn as I learn it, totally free – that’s JTF Strong.
Otherwise, learn how to cook, go for a run and then pick up something heavy. I’ll be here if you need help.
